Exhibition: “Zofia Rydet: Documentations—Architecture 1963–1974.”
20-10-2017
The unique exhibition Zofia Rydet: Documentations—Architecture 1963–1974 was presented in the X Gallery during a celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the Department of Architecture at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, where Rydet worked as a photography teacher and managed a photographic studio from 1963 until her retirement in 1977. She remained at the university on a part-time basis until the end of 1982. The exhibition presented a selection of documentary photographs from a rich collection of works made by Rydet during her tenure teaching in the architecture faculty of the industrial and general construction department. While the selection of photographs demonstrated their diverse subject matter, the common thread showed a portrait of the academic milieu connected with architectural studies: portraits of employees and students; moments captured during lectures, design classes, open-air drawing workshops, and exams; and records of student carnivals, very picturesque and emotional. The works shown at the exhibition were presented to the public for the first time in the form of large-format prints. Source: Nowiny Gliwickie
